Learn / Getting Started
Make your first take feel natural.
Follow the instructions for your platform. Start with a few sentences, check the result, then move on to your full script.
Public installers are still being prepared. Activation requires an internet connection and your Payhip-issued license key. This guide covers the current app controls. Check release availability →
Step 01
Install your edition
Windows & macOS
Check Downloads for the Windows or macOS release. Public installers and minimum system requirements have not been published here yet; exact installation steps will accompany them.
Android
Check Downloads for the Android release. A public installation link and supported Android versions will be published with it.
Step 02
Launch VoiceIt
Windows & macOS
Open VoiceIt Prompter. The current app opens to the script and prompting controls. When prompted, activate online with the Payhip license key from your purchase email.
Android
Open VoiceIt Prompter to the script screen. When prompted, activate online using the Payhip license key from your purchase email.
Step 03
Allow the permissions you need
Windows & macOS
Allow microphone access when you start Voice Follow. On macOS, denied access can be reviewed in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Give your separate recording app its camera and audio permissions.
Android
Video Recorder requests camera and microphone permissions. Floating Overlay needs microphone access and permission to display over other apps. Grant those permissions for the mode you choose.
Step 04
Add a short script
Windows & macOS
Choose Edit Script, type or paste your text and choose Apply to Prompter. To keep a named copy, choose Save in the editor. Desktop scripts are .txt files in Documents/VoiceIt Prompter Scripts.
Android
Type or paste into the script field, or open Edit Script and choose Apply to Prompter. Use Scripts to save a named copy and reload it later.
Step 05
Set up your reading area
Windows & macOS
Open Settings. Adjust Text Size, Line Width, Read Area, Dim Text and BG Opacity until the prompt is comfortable to read. Choose Mirror Script if your teleprompter glass requires mirrored text. Position the window near your camera.
Android
Use Settings for text size, line width, reading area, dimming and mirroring. In Video Recorder, use the layout-edit control to move or resize the prompt, then finish editing before recording.
Step 06
Let the script follow you
Windows & macOS
Choose Voice Follow and read your opening lines. VoiceIt listens through the microphone, matches words to your script and moves the prompt to your place. Select the matching language in Settings and download its model if needed.
Android
Open Video Recorder. Voice tracking starts with that view; wait for the listening status and read a few lines to check that the highlighted position follows you. Confirm the selected speech language and model in Settings.
Step 07
Check camera and microphone
Windows & macOS
Select your camera and recording microphone in your separate recording app. VoiceIt uses the system microphone input for tracking. Check that both apps can use the input, and make sure your frame and audio are right before a full take.
Android
Use Flip to choose the front or rear camera before recording. Open camera settings for the available resolution and frame rate. Choices depend on the camera hardware. Make a short test to verify sound and framing.
Step 08
Start your first take
Windows & macOS
Start recording in your recording app, return to your prompt and speak naturally. VoiceIt handles the text; your recording app handles the video.
Android
Tap Record. Look for the Stop button and recording timer, then read your script. The integrated recorder uses the microphone for both Voice Follow and the recorded audio.
Step 09
Pause or find your place
Windows & macOS
Toggle Voice Follow off to stop tracking and on to resume. Choose Restart to return to the beginning, or click a word to jump to it. Auto Scroll is a separate fixed-speed option. Control recording pauses in your recording app.
Android
Use the pause/resume control to hold the script position, the start-over control to return to the beginning, or tap a word to reposition. Pausing tracking does not pause the video or switch off the microphone.
Step 10
Finish and review the recording
Windows & macOS
Stop and save in your recording app. Use that app’s recording library or chosen output folder to find the video. VoiceIt does not export desktop video. Play the clip back and check audio before continuing.
Android
Tap Stop and wait for the saved confirmation while audio and video finish combining. Find the clip in Gallery / Movies; on Android 10 and later, look for Movies/VoiceIt. Play it back to check sound and picture.
Ready for the next take?
Keep a saved copy of your script, review your test recording and adjust the prompt until you can read comfortably.
